Constance Othelia Rostad

Constance "Connie" O. Rostad, age 96, formerly of Zumbrota, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN. She was born on December 31, 1914, in Minneola Township, the daughter of Lydia (Berg) and Albert Bjugan. She was baptized and confirmed at Minneola Lutheran Church. She attended and graduated from Wanamingo High School and Minneapolis Business College. She married Peter Rostad on October 23, 1943, at Minneola Lutheran Church. They lived in rural Zumbrota for most of their married life. They enjoyed traveling and camping. Connie worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Goodhue County Cooperative Electric Association for over 35 years. She retired in 1984 at the age of 70 years. Peter died December 16, 1985. In 1994, Connie moved to Zumbrota where she lived until 2008 when she moved and became a resident at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN. Connie participated in the Zumbrota Town and Country Homemaker Group, and served as treasurer for the Zumbrota Hospital Auxiliary. She was a lifelong member of Minneola Lutheran Church, where she served as president of WELCA, taught Sunday school, and sang in the senior choir and the Norwegian choir, and was active in circle and quilting. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, gardening, and baking, especially Norwegian goodies. Connie was extremely proud of her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Connie is survived by her daughter Mary (Sam) Olson of Dawson, MN; two granddaughters, Sara Levi of Scottsdale, AZ, and Martha (Brad) Ragan of Aloha, OR; two great-grandchildren, Jadyn Levi, and Keegan Ragan; one sister, Adeline Peterson; and two nephews, Mike and Paul Peterson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter; one brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Polly Bjugan; and one brother-in-law, Thomas Peterson.
Connie's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Minneola Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Nietz officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Mahn Family Funeral Home- Larson Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Casketbearers are Steve Rostad, David Rostad, Joel Rostad, Michael Peterson, Paul Peterson, and Rick Ryan. Memorials are preferred to Minneola Lutheran Church.
