Cleona M. Lerfald, 90, of Zumbrota, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at the Zumbrota Nursing Home. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Reverend Luther Peterson officiating. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Cleona Myra Miller was born on January 11, 1917 in Canton, MN. Cleona was orphaned at an early age. In September of 1926 she came to live with and was adopted by Anne Dyreson. Cleona grew up in Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1935. On December 11, 1935 she was married to Arnold Lerfald in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home on the Lerfald family farm. In 1940 Cleona started working for Henning Produce and she retired in 1982. From 1982 to 1992 she did daycare for the Tom and Sue Haugen family. Cleona enjoyed bowling, playing cards and dominos and using her computer. Cleona was a lifelong member of Lands Lutheran Church. Cleona is survived by her daughter, Ann (Burton) Husbyn of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Lynn (Chuck) Wingfield, Scot O'Reilly, Brandon (Amy) Husbyn and Lindsey Husbyn all of Zumbrota, Kristie Clark of Farmington and Aaron, Emily and Sam Haugen of Wanamingo; great grandchildren, Sean and Chris Wingfield, Sara and Brittany Clark, Travis and Peder Husbyn; sisters, Lorraine Highet of Austin and Aleta Grose of Zumbrota and a special nephew Duane Anfinson who lived with Cleona as a young man. Cleona was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; an infant daughter, Audrey Lerfald, brother, Clyde Miller and sister Berness Kruse. Honorary bearers are her grandchildren, Lynn Wingfield, Scot O'Reilly, Brandon Husbyn, Kristie Clark, Lindsey Husbyn, Aaron Haugen, Emily Haugen and Sam Haugen. Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel, Zumbrota.
