Cleon Oliver Flotterud age 89 of Zumbrota died on Friday morning, November 26, 2010 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.
Cleon was born on November 4, 1921 in Minneapolis to Andrew and Edel (Berg) Flotterud. He attended Forest Mills rural school and Zumbrota High School. Cleon joined his father on the family farm, which has been in the family for 156 years. He married Darline Vieths on September 6, 1953 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Together the couple lived and worked on the family farm. Cleon also worked part time for Henning Produce as a truck driver.
Cleon loved the outdoors, photography, and bowling. He also enjoyed attending threshing shows. He was a life long member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota, the 65/50 Club, and the Zumbrota Camera Club.
Cleon is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Darline; his four children, Dan (Char) Flotterud of Cannon Falls, Jean (Rob) Halverson of Red Wing, Alan (Kathy) Flotterud of Zumbrota, and Kathy (Vernon) Pahl of Pine Island; eleven grandchildren, John, Ben, Paul, and Matt Flotterud, Andrew and Jeff (Tracy) Halverson, Nick, Scott, and Emma Flotterud, and Courtney and Alex Pahl; two step â?" great grandchildren, Natalie and Hailey Halverson; and two cousins, Jannes Bjerkvig of Zumbrota and Ruth Fretheim of Decorah, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sisters.
