Clarice Jeanne Vagasky, 88, of Red Wing, died Friday, August 2, 2024, at Deer Crest Senior Living, where she had resided for the past four days. She was born on August 23, 1935, in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Adolph and Margaret (Radtke) Voigt. She graduated from Long Prairie High School and then attended the Minnesota School of Business for a secretarial degree. During that time, she worked at the Edina Country Club. She began working at First National Bank in Minneapolis where she met the love of her life, Steve Vagasky. Steve and Clarice dated for one and a half years before they were married on September 29, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie. They were blessed with five sons, Steven, James, Paul, David and Mark. They resided in Minneapolis, New Hope, Taylor Falls and Fairfax before moving to Red Wing in 1981. Since 1976, she worked with Steve at the banks. When they moved to Red Wing she worked at First National Bank in Maiden Rock, which she and Steve owned for 10 years along with Jim Kloster. She retired in 1994.
Clarice was a faithful member of United Lutheran Church, serving on altar guild and volunteered countless hours for Maiden Rock Days, Red Wing Elks Lodge BPOE #845, Red Wing Hospital Auxiliary and the Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing and doing crafts. Most of all she look forward to spending time with her family and going to their cabin on Birch Lake in Birchwood, WI where many special family memories were had.
Clarice is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Steve; five sons, Steven (Malinda), James, David (JimMartin), Paul (Bonnie) and Mark (Terri); four grandchildren, Lillian, Anna, Maria and Adam; four great grandchildren, Mckinzley, Ethan, Jackson and Lillian Marie and one sister, Carolyn Fruechte. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gerald.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church youth group or the Red Wing Elks Youth Camp. Arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
