Clara Lucille McKay, 97, of Pine Island died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island where she had lived since December 2005. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Pine Island Assembly of God Church with Rev. Daniel Ashpole officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Frank Wilson, Adam Holst, Ben Wilson, Chad Vieths, Tommy McKay and Mark McKay. Clara Lucille Shay was born on January 10, 1909 in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County to Earl and Augusta (Groth) Shay. She grew up in Pine Island Township and attended Pine Island schools. She married William H. McKay on April 10, 1929. Clara worked at the Kahler Hotel and St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester as a housekeeper for many years until her retirement in 1973. William died in 1994. Clara was a longtime member of the Pine Island Assembly of God Church. She loved to play games, especially scrabble. She is survived by her daughter, Gertrude Wilson of Pine Island; son, James McKay of Faribault, MN; one sister, Mildred Fellows on Rochester; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Clara is preceded in death by her husband; one sister, one brother and one great grandchild. Arrangements are with Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel, Pine Island.
