Christine Ann King, 58, Red Wing, died Tuesday at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 9, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Emery and Irja (Laitinen) Lewis. She graduated from West High School in Minneapolis in 1967 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in 1971. On June 16, 1973 she married Robert ?Bob? King at Morgan Avenue Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The lived in Minneapolis until 1977, St. Louis Park until 1984, and Hastings until 1994 when they moved to Red Wing. She worked as a Physical Therapist at various hospitals and nursing homes, mainly at Fairview facilities. A member of First Covenant Church, she enjoyed traveling, having coffee with friends, reading, Bible studies, attending sporting events and her cats. Survivors include her husband, Robert ?Bob? of Red Wing; two children, Jeff and Betsy, both of Red Wing; seven cousins, Karin Kelly, Heather Harper, Wendy Plowright, Cecily Hayward, Paul Kelly, Lisa Thorndike and Peggy Cullen; one aunt, Ingrid Plowright of England. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial service will be 3 p. m. Sunday, March 18, 2007, at First Covenant Church with Reverend Tim Anderson officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p. m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and on Sunday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Fairview Red Wing Hospice or the Christine King Scholarship Fund.Chris inspired many people in the community with her positive attitude and willingness to console others despite her own serious illness. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
