Christian M. "Chris" Romness

Christian Maynard Romness passed away suddenly on Friday, July 3rd, 2015 in Minot, North Dakota. Chris was born on December 24, 1954 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN to Avis Joy (Ewers) and Halvor Maynard Romness. Chris graduated from Wanamingo High School in May, 1973. He went on to graduate from Dunwoody Institute with a degree in Automotive Technology. Chris then joined his father in running the Romness Garage in Wanamingo until 2005 when he moved to Crosby, North Dakota. For the past several years, Chris worked for the City of Crosby and most recently worked for North Dakota Public Transit.

Chris had a deep interest in antique gasoline engines and was recognized internationally for his knowledge in that field. He was very involved with the City of Wanamingo during his time living there including terms on the City Council and as Chief of the Fire Dept.

Chris is survived by his brother Brian Romness and sister-in-law Cathy Romness of Chanhassen, MN, his sister Carol Loncar & brother-in-law Frank Loncar and their 3 children (Katelyn, Brian and Michael) of Hudson, WI, and sister Daphne Romness of Eagan, MN and her friend Tariku Belay of Minneapolis. His sense of humor and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew Chris.

There will be a memorial gathering at the Mahn Funeral Home in Zumbrota, MN from 4-7 pm on Friday, July 10th. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo, MN at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 11th, with visitation one hour prior.

Those wishing to make a memorial donation are encouraged to donate to the American Diabetes Association.
