Cheryl Pierson age 62 of Lake City died Saturday, November 10, 2007 at home.

Cheryl was born October 3, 1945 in Stillwater, MN to Marvin & LaVonne (Moen) Simon. Cheryl graduated from Stillwater High School in 1963. She graduated from Wartburg Collage in 1967 and received her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota in 1984. She married David Pierson July 8, 1967 in St. Paul, Minnesota. They lived in Lake Elmo and she taught in the Twin City's School system for four years. In 1971 they moved to Lake City and she taught 1st grade from 1972 to 2002. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City, Lake City Education Association, Minnesota Education Association; she served on the board of the Lake City Education Foundation, and National Holstein Wives Scholarship Organization. Cheryl enjoyed snuggling with Gracie Lee and Madisyn LeeAnn, family gatherings, watching 1st graders learn, being at the beach and being the Golden Gophers #1 Fan.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, son, Todd (Doris) of Lake City; daughter, Traci (Dave) Loonstra of Eau Claire, WI; two grandchildren, Gracie Lee and Madisyn LeeAnn; mother, LaVonne Simon of Stillwater; two sisters, Pam (Ed) Seekel of Stillwater, Terri (Dave) Green of Stillwater; brother, Ward (Mary) Simon of Stillwater. She was preceded in death by her father and a niece Teressa Simon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake City with Father James Russell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Lake City Education Foundation.
