Charlton Moses Wells

December 3, 1957 — November 27, 2016

Charlton "Buddy" Moses Wells, of Prairie Island Mdewakanton and Chippewa Saginaw, was born to Leo Wells and Beatrice Shawno Wells. He was born on and grew up on Prairie Island then moved to Minneapolis. He went to South High School in Minneapolis. He attended Kicking Horse Job Corporation Center in Ronan, Montana where he met Sharon Stone. They just celebrated 39 years of marriage on November 26, 2016. He was a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a firefighter and traveled to various places in the Western States. He enjoyed golfing with his tahansi (cousins). He also enjoyed a good fire. Buddy passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester on November 27, 2016, at the age of 58, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Penny and Amanda Wells; son, Charlton Moses Jr.; stepson, Arlo Male Bear; 10 grandchildren; brother, Richard Wells; sisters, Lylis (Loren) Siegel and Doreen Wells Hagen; various nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Beatrice; brothers, Dennis and Jody Wells; sisters, Janice and Denise Wells; and grandparents, Moses and Mary (Williams) Wells.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Prairie Island Community Center with Reverend Johnson Loud officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Church of the Messiah Cemetery.
