Charles Zimmerman

Charles "Chuck" Zimmerman, 79, of Rochester, died Thursday (Jan. 6, 2011) at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Rochester.
Charles Theodore Zimmerman was born June 1, 1931 in Chariton, Iowa to Frederick and Inez (Chapman) Zimmerman. His family moved to Des Moines in 1942 and he graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1949. On Oct. 21, 1950 he married Judy Warner in Des Moines and they resided there prior to moving to Rochester in 1967. He had been manager of Crescent Electric, in sales at Adamson Motors, and an employee of IBM. Chuck was in the National Guard when they were mobilized and he served actively in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 until 1954. He received his discharge in 1960 after being in the Reserves for six years. Chuck was a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M., the Rochester Shrine Club, the Rochester VFW Post #1215, the Wm. T. McCoy Post #92 of the American Legion, and the Korea Veterans Club. He loved his cars and his motorcycle and enjoyed all the cycle trips over the years and the many friends he met along the way.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Ron (Lisa) of Fort Collins, CO; and Russ of Rochester; his daughter, Robbin Zimmerman of St. Paul, MN; his grandson, Taylor; and his sister, Marla Davis of Altoona, Iowa. His parents preceded him in death.
A Masonic Memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday by the Rochester Masonic Lodge #21 A.F. & A.M. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Rochester Chapel. Military Honors will be conducted by the Wm. T. McCoy Post #92 of the American Legion. His body has been cremated and private interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Friends may call one hour before the service on Monday and a reception will be held following the service.
Memorials are suggested to the Shrine Hospitals.
