Charles "Amikagaabow" Roach Jr.
Charles Roach Jr. age 52, of Woodbury, began his journey home, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus. He was born September 24, 1963 in Minneapolis to Charles and Darlene (Campbell) Roach. He attended North Minneapolis High School and later Anoka Technical School learning mechanical engineering. He enjoyed working on and building cars with his dad. Charles had a passion for racing. He raced in the ASA Series all over the country and was the owner and crew chief of JR Enterprise Team #24. Through his love of racing he encouraged, promoted, and mentored many young racers. He enjoyed spending time racing go-carts with his family including on the ice at the Xcel Energy Center. Charles was a beloved and encouraging husband, father, son, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, and his laugh will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Ezriel of Woodbury; children, Amelia (Jason) Baker, Kate (Lars)Erickson both of Hastings; mother, Darlene Roach of Welch; siblings, Shelley Roach of Welch, Christopher (Tracey) of Minneapolis, Brian (Molly) Roach of Goodhue, Michael Roach of Welch, Beth Kisskeys of Welch, Denise Campbell-Mathews of Red Wing.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Roach Sr.; son, William "Bill" Roach, brother, Bradley Roache Sr.; nephew, Thor Bradley; and his grandparents.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Prairie Island Community Center with Larry "Amik" Smallwood officiating. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Community Center and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will take place at the Church of the Messiah Cemetery.
