Charles James Larkin

Charles J. Larkin age 81 of Lake City passed away May 8, 2012 at the Lake City Hospital Mayo Health System.
Chuck was born March 6, 1931 in Faribault, Mn to Howard & Cecilia (Pierce) Larkin. He graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy in Mendota Heights. He married Phyllis Bronce July 18, 1951 at St Albert the Great Catholic Church in Minneapolis. He joined the Air Force in 1953 and served during the Korean War. He was stationed at Warrington England Air Force Base for two years. After he was discharged he returned home and worked for his father in the transportation business for several years, he also was an Executive for Witte Transportation. He and his wife raised their children in Bloomington. He owned and operated State Wide Transportation until retiring in 1989. After retirement they moved to Lake City in 1990. Chuck was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City. His great love was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed boating and spending winters in Florida.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Lake City; three sons, Michael (Deborah) of Minneapolis, Daniel (Sheri) of Lakeville, and Joseph of Eagan; One daughter, Charlene Larkin of Chaska; 9 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Mary Lou McGraw.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary's of the Lake Church in Lake City, MN on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:30 am with Father Richard Dernek officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5pm - 8pm at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Graveside Services will be held Friday, 2:30pm at the Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN. Military rites provided by the Lake City VFW Post #8729 and the Lake City American Legion Post #110. Memorials preferred to Saint Mary's of the Lake Church Building Fund.
