Chad Thomas Freiheit

A memorial service honoring the life of Chad Freiheit will be held Saturday May 8th at 2:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel in Zumbrota. The celebrant will be Deacon Paul Tschann. Mr. Freiheit, 52, of Zumbrota died recently at his home in Zumbrota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Masking is required and social distancing (when possible) is encouraged.

Chad Thomas Freiheit was born June 4, 1968 in Zumbrota, the son of Darrell and Judi (Thompson) Freiheit. He was a lifelong area resident. Known primarily as a truck driver, he worked for Eagle Transport, and then purchased his own truck, eventually working as an over-the-road hauler. After trucking, he worked at Ag Partners and then Concast.

Chad loved eagles, and he had a collection of various forms of eagle memorabilia. He also had a fondness for the well known cartoon character “Taz”, and he had a collection of memorabilia born out of that fondness as well. He enjoyed spending time with his son Wyatt.

Chad is survived by his son Wyatt Freiheit of Oronoco; parents Darrell and Judi Freiheit of Lake City; former wife Lynn Freiheit of Zumbrota; brothers Jeff (Kim) Freiheit, Ross (Vicki) Freiheit, and Aric (Brian) Freiheit, all of Lake City. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew Kendra, Caleb, and Olivia.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and a sister-in-law Darlene Freiheit.
