Catherine Elizabeth Tapanila

Catherine Elizabeth Tapanila , age 90, of Red Wing, died Thursday, July 12, at Loving Residence in Red Wing. She was born on December 15, 1916, in New Rochelle, New York, to Axel and Rauha (Nummelin) Kivi. She was married to Theodore Tapanila and lived in the Coon Rapids area. She moved to Red Wing in 2002.
Survivors include her son, Ted Tapanila of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Pat (Layton) Badger of Mantorville; Mike (Nicole) Tapanila of Cottage Grove and Brian Tapanila of Louisiana; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gene (Mary) Kivi of Rochester, William (Jeanine) Kivi of Richwood, and Roy Kivi of Strawberry Lake; and one sister, Peggy Aldridge of Fort Wayne, Indiana; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, one sister and two brothers. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Morningside Memorial Gardens, Coon Rapids. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling arrangements.
