Caryl F. McLaughlin

Caryl F. McLaughlin, age 76, of Mantorville died on Monday, August 20, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church in Mantorville with Reverend Brian Engelstad officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Caryl Francis McLaughlin was born on March 29, 1936 in rural Mantorville to James O. and Bernice (nee Brittnal) McLaughlin. He grew up on the family farm, attended Mantorville schools and graduated from Mantorville High School in 1954. He farmed with his father in rural Mantorville. Over the years, Caryl developed an award winning dairy herd and did some breeding of dairy cows. In 1994 he sold his dairy herd and semi-retired. On October 12, 2003 he married Karen K. Henrichs at the First Congregational Church in Mantorville. They made their home in a new house on the McLaughlin family farm. Caryl was a member of DHIA, served on the Milton Township Board and was a Deacon at the First Congregational Church. He enjoyed dancing, listening to country and blue grass music, playing cards, going to plays and spending time with family and friends. Caryl is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Ronald (Char) Henrichs of Northfield, Randee (Robert) Alikandiel of Mantorville and Rob Henrichs of West Concord; grandchildren, Chris and Andrew (Melissa) Joslyn, Michael, Cory and Kirsten Henrichs, Tia Pomper, Hannah and Devon Henrichs, Steven and Michael Meeker; great-grandson, Bentley Henrichs; sister, Joan Meeker of Madisonville, TN; special nieces and nephews, Larry and Deb Meeker, Bob Meeker and Penny Wiseman and his dog "Charlie". Caryl was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and step-son, Reid Henrichs. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the First Congregational Church in Mantorville.
