Cary Allen Berendt

October 31, 1950 — August 19, 2024

Red Wing

Cary Allen Berendt, 73, of Red Wing, died at home on Monday, August 19, 2024 after an illness.

He was born October 31, 1950 in Minneapolis to Arthur and Joyce (Hambrick) Berendt. He graduated from Burnsville High School and went on to enlist in the U.S. Army. He served until his honorable discharge in 1975. In 1980, he married Michelle Dimmerman. While Cary held many jobs, the one he enjoyed the most was working as the Executive Casino Host at Mystic Lake. After years in Arizona, Michelle and Cary returned to Minnesota and made their home in Red Wing in 2010.

Cary loved fishing. When he wasn’t out on the water, he enjoyed trying to take the high score in games of Spades and Backgammon online. He loved to win. Cary was very smart and had a great sense of humor. He liked spending time with his family and he especially enjoyed being a grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Michelle; children, Cary Jr., Chris, Charlie (Jessica), and Brandon (Jennifer) Daniels; grandchildren; brother, Karl Berendt; son-in-law, Daniel Fick, and his mother, Joyce Berendt.

He is preceded in death by his daughters, Melissa and Jenni; sister, Christine Lemke; brother, Steven Berendt; and his father, Arthur Berendt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
