Carolyn Ida Voth, 64, of Goodhue passed away peacefully in her home on September 6, 2016, surrounded by family.
Carolyn was born on August 27, 1952 in Rochester, Minnesota to Leonard and Cora (Busse) Scheffler. She grew up in rural Zumbrota, was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa. Carolyn graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1970. She continued her education at Rochester Vocational School and began working as a lab technician at Mayo Clinic. On April 15, 1972, Carolyn married Norris Voth of Goodhue at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa.
Carolyn and Norris formed their family home and farmed in rural Goodhue. The following years were dedicated to raising her family, whom she loved and cared for tirelessly. Many will remember Carolyn for her love of music, involvement in church and school, and compassion for others. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren and was always a big presence in their lives. She was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue and many will remember her for her strong faith.
Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Norris; her children David (Jill) Voth, Joel (Carol) Voth, Christopher (Dallas) Voth, Elizabeth Voth, Christine (Drew) Shaman, Robert (Beth) Voth, and MaryLynn (Brad) Nelson; grandchildren Kyle and Ryan Voth, Ares Voth, Oliver and Jorja Voth, Gage and Dahlia Nelson; sisters Beverly (Roger) Voth, Corrine (Marcus) Voth; brothers-in-law Charles (Carol) Voth, Kevin Voth; aunts Betty Scheffler, Rena Degener, Sammy Albers, and uncle Wilbert Matthees; many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Robert.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Goodhue. Burial will be at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery rural Goodhue. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and at the church for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for St. Peter's Lutheran Church, St. John's Lutheran School of Goodhue, and Goodhue Area Historical Society.
