Carolyn S. Stussy age 78 of Pine Island died Friday morning, February 2, 2007 at the Pine Haven Care Center. Private services are being held at the Mahn Family Funeral Home ? Mahler Chapel in Pine Island with Reverend Kip Groettum officiating. Inurnment will be in Pine Island Cemetery. Carolyn Shirley Waldon was born on February 23, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Clarence and Esther (nee Enevold) Waldon. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1946. She attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Social Studies. Carolyn started teaching in Pine Island in September of 1950. On July 10, 1954 she married Maurice Stussy in Minneapolis. They made their home in Pine Island and Carolyn continued teaching. In 1968 she earned her Masters Degree in English from Winona State College. She also started teaching at Central and later Willow Creek Junior High School?s in 1968. Carolyn retired from teaching in 1987. She was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP and a life member of the Minnesota Education Association and Retired Teachers of MN. Carolyn enjoyed flower gardening and cross stitching. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Maurice, one brother, Paul (Marian) Waldon of Hickory, NC and twenty two nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nora Lee and one brother, John ?Jack? Waldon. The family suggests memorials to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Lung Cancer Center at the Mayo Clinic or the Pine Haven Care Center.
