Carolyn Laone Carver Foley, age 85 of Red Wing, died on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at St. Brigid's at Hi Park in Red Wing.

Carolyn was born on November 19, 1923 in Faribault, Minnesota to Eugene and Laone Carver. She grew up in Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School. She attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois and graduated in 1945. Carolyn taught English, Speech, and produced plays for high schools in Iowa, Wisconsin and Red Wing. On June 24, 1950 Carolyn was united in marriage to Charles Foley. Charlie died on January 18, 2001.

Carolyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon for three years. In the past she was a member of the Red Wing Golf Club and the Mississippi National Golf Links. She volunteered for Faith in Action and Red Wing Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cribbage and bridge, the theater, bird watching and spending time with her family.

Carolyn is survived by her four children; Susan (Scott) Cody of Owatonna, John (Mary) Foley of Red Wing, Jennifer (Terry) Stille of Andover, and Steven (Maria) Foley of Minneapolis; one sister Nancy (Robert) Proctor of Ziegler, Illinois; three nieces; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie and her son Chuck.

Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing with Reverend Gary Elg officiating. Memorials are preferred to the First Presbyterian Book of Golden Memories, American Cancer Society, or the Fairview Red Wing Hospice. Mahn Family Funeral Homes, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel is handling the arrangements.
