Caroline R. Island age 88 of Zumbrota died on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Zumbrota Health Services. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home � Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Reverend Paul Reppe officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 2:00 � 4:00 PM and on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Caroline Ruth Stiller was born on November 29, 1919 in Zumbrota, MN to Theodore and Marguerite (nee Scofield) Stiller. She grew up in rural Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1937. On June 26, 1949 she married Maurice B. Island in Wanamingo. They made their home in Wanamingo for many years before moving to Roscoe Township. Caroline worked at Maple Island Creamery in Wanamingo for twenty years. Maurice died on October 27, 1987. Caroline continued to live in Roscoe Township until the late 1990's when she moved to the Towers in Zumbrota. She was a resident of the Zumbrota Health Services for the past several years. Caroline enjoyed reading and gardening and in her early years she also enjoyed fishing.
Caroline is survived by two sons, Wayne (Chris) Island of Riviera Beach, MD and Mark Island of Mazeppa and one sister Frieda Banitt of Zumbrota. She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice and one brother, Harold Stiller.
