Carol Jean Matanich

Carol Jean Matanich, 69, of Medford, MN died Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Bayview Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Red Wing, MN. Carol was born on December 16, 1951 in Deer River, to Norven and Rosemary (Martin) Korpi. She grew up in Deer River and Graduated from Deer River High School.

After High School, she furthered her education at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, MN. Carol was a stay at home mom to her two sons, Tony and Christian. She then worked various jobs including circuit board quality assurance and waitressing. She enjoyed watching MSNBC and spending time with her grandson. Carol was a very generous, independent, and caring person. Someone who made others feel better after meeting her; that continued right up to the very end. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Carol is survived by her sons, Christian (Lee Dang) Casio of Eagan, MN; Tony (Theresa Kuntze) Casio of Medford, MN; granddaughter, Addie Kuntze; grandson, Francis Kuntze of Medford, MN; Sisters, Betty Cleveland and Nancy Rae Norwell both of Grand Rapids, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norven and Rosemary.
