Carol E. Bremer

Carol Erleen Bremer, age 79, of Red Wing died Monday, September 14, 2015 at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born on December 24, 1935 in Duluth to Lloyd and Helen (Bly) White. She grew up in the Red Wing area and married Marvin Van Houten on August 8, 1953. The couple made their home in Red Wing and had two daughters. Marvin died on September 3, 1976. Carol married Harry Bremer on May 2, 1980. She worked at the Farmer Store and later the Red Wing Shoe Company until her retirement in 1998. Carol was very crafty and made hats for cancer patients and stuffed bears for HIV positive children in Africa. She enjoyed antiquing, going to flea markets, traveling, having coffee with her friends, and volunteering at Hi-Park. She also was known for her green thumb and loved to work in her flower garden. Most of all, Carol was very close with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter. She will be deeply missed.
Carol is survived by her two daughters, Rochelle (Kollin) Nelson of Stockholm, WI and Robin (Paul) Maher of Hastings; four grandchildren, Christa (Dan) Langhans of Red Wing, Casey Luhman of Red Wing, Cori (Brent Bolland) Luhman of Red Wing, and Kendall (Phil) Saboe of South Dakota; eight great-grandchildren, Nick (Kaci) Peterson of Fort Stewart, GA, Dylan (Melissa) Peterson of Red Wing, Gracie Spriggle of Red Wing, Jana Langhans of Red Wing, Chloe Luhman of Las Vegas, NV, Caleb Melstrom of Ellsworth, WI, Evelynn Luhman of Red Wing, and Cameron Bolland of Red Wing; one great-great-granddaughter, Addison Peterson; three siblings, Marlys (Greg) Johnson of San Antonio, TX, Sharon Baringer of Arden Hills, and Myron (Deb) White of South St. Paul; and her dog, Muffin.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Marvin and Harry; grandson, Chet Luhman; parents; brother, Marvin "Sonny" White; and sister, Jan "Bunny" Lemmerman.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Debby Bradley officiating.
