Carl H. Busse, age 84, of Mazeppa died on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Reverend Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Mazeppa Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Saturday two hours prior to the service at the church.
Carl Henry Busse was born on March 9, 1924 in Mazeppa Township, Wabasha County, MN to Leonhardt and Ida (nee Friese) Busse. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated from Mazeppa High School. Carl farmed with his parents on the family farm. He worked for Mayo Clinic after retiring from farming and continued to live on the farm. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa. Carl enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with his family.
Carl is survived by his sisters: Lenora Haar of Red Wing and Rena Degener of Zumbrota; nieces and nephews: Larry (Irma ) Degener of Lake City, Greg (Ardis) Grossbach of Owatonna, Beverly (Roger) Voth of Zumbrota; Carolyn (Norris) Voth and Corrine (Marcus) Voth both of Goodhue; and his great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonhardt and Ida; his twin sister, Cora Scheffler, brothers, Hubert and Norman and sister Erna Grossbach; niece, Virginia Haar and nephew, Robert Voth.
Casketbearers are Larry Degener, Norris Voth, Roger Voth, Marcus Voth, Greg Grossbach and Glen Betcher.
The family suggests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church missions or donor's choice.
