Carl "Pug" Burkard, 77, of Red Wing, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at his home. He was born to Carl and Veronica (Gillespie) Burkard on November 8, 1932. Carl served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married JoAnne Eastman on October 15, 1954 in Red Wing. They moved to the Sheboygan area in 1969 and returned to the Red Wing area in 1996. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 and the Red Wing Elks Lodge BPOE# 845.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Eastman) Burkard; children, Timothy (CJ) of San Antonio, TX, Jill (Sean) Skaaland of Cologne, Robert (Jill) of Oconomowoc, WI, Scott (Anita) of Camas, WA, and Michael (Sandy) of Inver Grove Heights; ten grandchildren, Dave, Tom, Natalie, Bridget, Mike, Jack, and Sarah Burkard, and Hayley, Casey, and Lindsey Skaaland, and two nieces, Linda (Mike) Rehder of Red Wing and Kathy (Dick) Herron of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jane, and brother, Calvin Burkard and his wife Marian.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Church of Saint Joseph with Father Kenneth LaVan officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church. Arrangements by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
