Calvin M Baker

December 23, 1924 — November 30, 2020

Red Wing

Calvin M. Baker, 95, of Red Wing, died Monday, November 30, 2020 at his home in Deer Crest. He was born December 23, 1924 to Lawrence and Marion (Ingli) Baker on the family farm in Trenton Township. He met Evelyn Miller at a Red Wing Shoe picnic in 1951 and on February 9, 1952 the couple was married. Together they raised six children. The family lived in many places in the surrounding area. Calvin worked for Red Wing Sewer Pipe and American Hoist but he spent more than 30 years working for Burlington Northern Railroad.

Calvin liked to work in his garden, cook, and to be out fishing. He was a bit of a tinkerer and he enjoyed taking things apart even if he never got around to putting them back together again. He liked to tell stories about his younger years and his time with Evelyn who died in 2016.  While he was a quiet man unless he knew you well, he always had a smile to share.

He is survived by his children; Joan (Randy) Anderson, Rodney (Debbie) Baker, Debbie Simonson, Roger Baker, Rick (Maria) Baker and Randy (Pat) Baker; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one brother, Duane (Loa) Baker and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two sister, Joyce and Leona; one brother, Quinten; and his parents.

A private family graveside will be held at Hartland Presbyterian Cemetery in Wisconsin. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
