Burton C. Austad, age 85, of Goodhue died on May 23, 2010 at the Red Wing Health Center.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue with the Reverend Mike Gustafson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
A private family burial will be held in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Goodhue.
Burton C. Austad was born July 1, 1924 in Blair, Wisconsin to Albert and Cora (Pederson) Austad. He graduated from Blair High School. On May 14, 1949 Burton married Vera Simenson at the Zion Lutheran Church in Blair, WI. In 1952 the couple moved to Goodhue where Burt worked for Amoco Oil and began his own business, Burt's Farm Store in Goodhue. In November 2000, Burt retired after more than 43 years, from both businesses.
Burt is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vera of Goodhue; three children, Allen (Vicki) of Chaska, Debra (Mark) Eggerichs of Stoughton, WI, and David (Karleen) of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Merlin (Barbara) of Luck, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Cora; his son, Scott; and his brother, Alden.
