Ralph "Bud" Heise, age 84, of Lake City died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at his home.
Ralph was born May 12, 1923 in Gillford Township, Wabasha County to Gustav & Johanna (Meyer) Heise. Bud grew up in Gillford Township and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1941. Ralph entered the Navy in 1943and was later transferred to the Marine Air Corps, where he served as a fighter pilot during WWII. He was discharged in 1946 and he returned to the Lake City area. Bud married Ruth (Bette) Willey November 28, 1946 at St. Mary's Church Parsonage in Lake City. They started farming in 1948 in Gillford Township, Wabasha County. They farmed until 1979 when Bud retired, Bud & Bette moved to Lake City, where he worked at the Lake City Marina for many years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac, the Lake City VFW Post 8729. He also served on the Gillford Township Zoning Board. Bud loved to fish, play cards, and spend time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; a daughter Carol (Gary) Kuphal of LaCresent, MN; two sons, Donald (Kathy) Heise of Lake City, Wayne (Tammy) Heise of Lake City, 23 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Milstead, and two brothers Vincent and Arnold and his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frontenac, with Christopher Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the Frontenac Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Feed The Children Foundation. Military Honors will be provided by Lake City VFW post 8729 and American Legion Post 110.
