Bruce A. Schumacher, age 71, of Lake City, died Friday, Feb. 2nd, 2024, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, surrounded by family.

Bruce was born on Nov. 3, 1952, in Lake City, to Dennis and Marian (Grobe) Schumacher. Bruce grew up in Lake City, attended St. John's Elementary School, and then graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. He attended St. Cloud State University and majored in Accounting. He met the love of his life, Patricia Schumacher, in St. Cloud and they were married at St. Peter's Church in St. Cloud on June 28, 1975. He began working as Lake City's Finance Director in 1976 until suffering a stroke in 2004.

Bruce was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He served as Treasurer for both the Lake City Country Club and Lake City Athletic Booster Club. Bruce was also a member of the Lake City Fire Department from 1982-2002, proudly following in the footsteps of his father, Dennis. Bruce remained active in volunteer roles with the Fire Dept, City of Lake City, and Lake City Golf Course long after his stroke, highlighting his deep dedication & love for his community.

Bruce was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, following all kinds of sports, card games, spending time with family & friends, and watching school activities for his grandchildren, nieces/nephews, and many family friends.

Golf was a huge part of Bruce’s life. He taught his 2 sons and godson how to play and loved watching his grandchildren pick up the game. You could often find Bruce in the clubhouse at Lake City Golf Club, connecting with old friends and having witty comments at the ready.

Bruce had a wonderful sense of humor and thrived at bringing people together. He loved chatting with friends and family on the phone and genuinely appreciated those that would answer his calls and take time out of their day to chat. He will be deeply missed by many.

Survivors include wife Patricia; sons, Cory (Alicia) of Edina, Chris (Erica) of Minnestrista; four grandchildren (August, Hugo, Theodore, and Katherine); brothers Denny (Terri), Terry (Shari), Dean (Mary), and Mark; sisters Sue (Tom) Halder, Donna (Curt) Meyer, Amy (Mark) Matanich; and many nieces & nephews.
