Bruce J. Rinn, Sr., age 66 of Rochester, passed away Tuesday (Aug. 7, 2012) at his home.
Bruce was born May 13, 1946 in Rochester to Walter and Olivia (Heaser) Rinn. He was raised in the St. Charles area and attended schools in Rollingstone and St. Charles. Bruce served in the U.S. Army from December 1965 to December 1967, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and Fort Knox, KY. In 1970 he married Rose Juhl, they were later divorced. He worked at Ralston Purina Company, Frozen Storage Company, and Speedy Delivery Company, all of Rochester. Bruce retired in 2010 after fifteen years with the Speedy Delivery Company. On July 27, 2002 he married Debra "Debbi" Aakre in Rochester. Bruce loved music and played in several bands throughout the South East Minnesota and Northeast Iowa areas, including the DC Drifters, the Legends Band, and the Generation Band, as a singer and Elvis impersonator. He was an avid music collector, and enjoyed photography and scrap booking. His favorite times were spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife Debbie, his daughter, Shannon (Kris) Borgen of Chatfield, MN; his son, Bruce, Jr. of Rochester; his step-son, Jason (Amanda) Aakre of Watford City, ND; six grandchildren, Andrew, Trey, Amanda, Darrian, Nicholas, and Lauren, one great grandchild, Shelby, parents-in-law Carolyn and Lyle Bartlett of Zumbrota, MN; Elaine and Merlin Wilbur of Hastings, MN; and numerous sisters and brothers-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel, and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
