Bruce Hoven, age 71, of Zumbrota passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, while residing at Bay View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Red Wing.
Bruce was born along with his twin brother (Brent) in Zumbrota on May 10, 1951, to Lester and Evelyn (nee Rokke) Hoven. He was a graduate of Zumbrota High School in 1969. While living in Zumbrota, Bruce work at Bannitt’s Clothing Store and was a member of the Zumbrota Ambulance crew. He moved to California and continued to work in retail and food vending for many events and fairs. He spent many enjoyable years while living and working there. In May of 2001, Bruce traveled to Zumbrota for a surprise Mother’s Day visit and suffered a massive stroke. With lots of rehabilitation and determination, he was able to achieve some independence, but never returned to California. Bruce was a very social guy and loved being around people and animals, especially his beloved dog Auggie.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Brent, and his faithful companion: Auggie Dog.
He is survived by his sisters: Louise Hoven of California and Martha (Blaine) Hoven of Rochester, MN, brothers: Les (Karen) Hoven of Oklahoma City, OK and Scott (Sara) and Keith (Wendy) Hoven, all of Zumbrota, MN. He is further survived by his nephews: Ian, Reed, Matthew, Jordan and his niece: Brenna.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bruce’s name are appreciated and should be directed to Paws and Claws Animal Shelter of Rochester or the Humane Society of your choice.
According to Bruce’s wishes, there will be no services held.
