Bridget Mary Flattum, 55, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at her home in Red Wing. She was born on December 28, 1952, in Winona, Minnesota to Raymond and Eileen (Johns) Martin. She graduated from Winona High School in 1971 and attended Winona State University. On December 14, 1974, she married Gary Flattum in Winona and in 1975 they moved to Red Wing. For 14 years she worked at Fairview Red Wing Clinic. She was past president of the Humane Society of Goodhue County. She enjoyed gardening, music and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; three children, Justin (Beth) Flattum, Andrew (fiancée Jaime Brown) Flattum and Briana (fiancée Arend Geurink) Flattum all of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Nevaeh Jade, Bailyn Bridget and Elijah Wellstone; her father, Raymond Martin of Winona; her mother Eileen Martin of Red Wing; one sister, Patty Hruby of Winona and one brother, Eric Martin of Chicago along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Charles Uhlik officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Beth and George Snyder, Tina and Howard Ketel, Terry and Nilan Buck and Jeannette and Mike Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Betsy and Tom Stringer and Mickey and Mike Szymanski. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church with an 8 p.m. vigil service and for one hour prior to the services on Sunday. Memorials preferred to the Humane Society of Goodhue County or Fairview Red Wing Hospice.
