CELEBRATION OF LIFE


Dear Friends,
Please join us to celebrate Brett's life on Saturday, September 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. A brief memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with Regina Nicolosi officiating. A luncheon at the funeral home will follow the memorial service.
Brett was born November 25, 1959, in Red Wing, to Jack and Carmen Edwards. He attended Red Wing schools, graduating in 1978. Following college at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, he worked at Marquette Electronics and Airborne Express (DHL) in Milwaukee. At the time of his death, on September 1, he was engaged to marry Jane Machi of Brookfield, Wis. They were to be married on May 23, 2008. He was father/ mother to ten year old Matthew, loved history and politics, the Brewers, the Packers, but secretly the Vikings and Twins too. Brett was an avid baseball card collector. He loved his motorcycle, electronic gadgets and travel. He enjoyed nature and fishing. He knew all the words to every Bob Dylan song. He was a member of Harvest Community Church in Oak Creek, Wis. Funeral services were held at the church on September 8. Pallbearers were his Bible study pals. Private interment will be in Red Wing. He was an active member of the Southwest Milwaukee YMCA since 1997, and spoke in the city for the Strong Kids Campaign of 2005/2006. We will especially remember that Brett told Jane "love is action".
Brett's family consists of his son, Matthew; his parents; a brother, Mark (Jenny) of Overland, Kansas; a sister, Jacueline (Mike Shepperd) of Roseville, Minn.; three nephews, Anthony, Tanner and Trenton Edwards; his fiancé, Jane, and her extended family who embraced and loved him. In addition, two men were like brothers to Brett: Chris Hempel of Glendale, Calif.; and his cousin, Dave of Lake Mills, Wis.
Memorials will go to a fund for the care and education of Matthew Taylor Edwards.
