Bradley John Swanson, age 52, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the Lake City Hospital. He was born in Mankato, MN to Kenneth and Elaine (Adams) Swanson. He graduated from Wellcome Memorial High School in Garden City, MN in 1982. Brad served in the Army from 1983 to 1986 stationed in Honolulu, HI. He married Jennifer Bartleson on March 2, 1991 in Madelia, MN. He graduated from Mankato State University in 1993 with a degree in International Business and Finance and received his Master's Degree from University of Phoenix in 2012.
He worked for Mayo Clinic, Valley Craft, Target Corporation, and most recently for the Department of Defense in Honolulu, HI. Brad was well respected by his coworkers for his intelligence, leadership, and wit.
Brad enjoyed sports, coaching basketball especially the OWLS, travel, UNC basketball, Alabama football and spending time with his family. He loved children and always went out of his way to make them feel special. His positive attitude and sense of humor were appreciated by all those who knew him.
Brad is survived by his wife, Jennifer; four sons, Andrew, Ryan, Ben of Lake City, and Zack (Olivia) Depuydt of Menifee, CA; four granddaughters, Khloe, Karlie, Lola and Bella; his mother, Elaine Swanson of Mankato, MN; three sisters, Jeanne (Les) Anderson of Cannon Falls, Karen (John) Adam of Englewood, CO, Kenya (Chris) Jahnke of Cologne, MN; three brothers, Brian (Chris) Swanson of Garden City, MN, Ron (Linda) Swanson of Mankato, MN, Ross (Susanne) Swanson of Prior Lake, MN; father-in-law, Eric Bartleson of Winona, MN; brother-in-law, Paul (Joan) Bartleson of Cross Plains, WI; sister-in-law Ann Marie (Brian) Beste of Waconia, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Swanson, mother-in-law, Cathy Bartleson, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, MN with Monsignor Russell Bleich and Father Joseph Pete officiating, and burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Post #8729 and American Legion Post #110.
