Bradley Karow

Bradley Frank Karow, 77 of Red Wing, died Monday April 1, 2013 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1936 in Ortonville, Minn. to Frank and Frances (Bundtzen) Karow. Following his graduation from Ortonville High School, he attended Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., graduating in 1958. He married Suellen Madson September 23, 1962 in Bozeman, Mont.
As a young man, Brad worked in the family sand and gravel business and was a member of the Minnesota National Guard. Brad's first career (1958-1978) was in banking. He worked at several banks in Mont. and finally in Lanesboro, Minn. In 1978, he began a second career as a District Representative for Lutheran Brotherhood (now Thrivent) in Red Wing. He retired in 2001. During this time he was active in civic organizations including the Toastmasters, JayCees, and Kiwanis.
Brad enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Labrador Retrievers he owned over the years. He was a life member of Pheasants Forever. In recent years, Brad enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with his grandchildren and encouraging them in their various sports, studies and other school activities. He also enjoyed history, politics and engaging in good conversation with friends and strangers alike.
Survivors include his wife, Suellen, of 50 years; three children, Sara Karow of Houston, Tex, Kristi (Scott) Evers of Eden Prairie, and Jim (Tonya) Karow of Kronenwetter, Wis; six grandchildren, Erik, Zach, Craig and Kenny Evers, Elijah and Kinley Lynn Karow; one sister, Margie (Joe) Faulkner of Midlothian, Tex; an aunt, Luella Walker of Ortonville; brothers-in-law, Peter (Sue) Madson of Naperville, Ill, and Phillip (Cheryl) Madson of Rhinelander, Wis; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Suzanne Rios; and two nephews.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Bob Iverson officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to United Lutheran Church, Pheasants Forever, the ALS Association, or the donor's choice.
