Bonnie Marie Bunkowske

August 5, 1935 — October 30, 2024

Lake City

Wife Mother Grandmother: Bonnie Marie Bunkowske passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at St Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, attended by her husband Glen and son Nathan.

Bonnie married Glen Bunkowske on October 11, 1975. They had recently celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary. Bonnie is the mother of Lorelei Peters (Jeff Feldmeier) of Minnetonka, MN; JoEllen Harrison, of Holiday, FL and Nathan Bunkowske of Lake City. Her newest joyful role is that of grandmother to Aayan of Portales, NM. Other notable joys in Bonnie’s life include over sixty years of dedicated service to the Nursing profession that began when she graduated from Abbott Hospital’s Nursing School as a Registered Nurse in 1956, working in the Twin Cities, Rochester and Lake City.

Her biggest joy and longest commitment was to her WELS faith in a journey that began when she was born on August 5, 1935 to Rudulph J Buck and LuCella (Readout) Buck in Lake City. She was baptized, confirmed and a member of St John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, until she moved to Trinity Ev/Lincoln rural Lake City in 1975. She is survived by her brother Rudolph “Butch” Buck (Pat) of Byron. She was preceded in death by her sister Glenda (Donald Diericks) of Byron and her parents. Unfortunately, she did not reach her personal goal of turning 90, to match the longevity of her grandmother Marie (Heitman) Buck-although, she bested her mother Sally by a decade. Bonnie recently lamented she was unable to join her classmates for the 1953 high school reunion photo, since there were only seven left in the class. Now, six remain.

A Funeral Service for Bonnie will be held Monday, November 4th at 11:00am at Trinity Lincoln Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Reich officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church.  On-Line Condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
