Bonnie Jean Andersen

Bonnie Jean Andersen, 68, of Red Wing, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at her home, after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. She was born in Waseca, Minnesota on Sept. 10, 1946, to Roy and Mary (Collins) Madden. She attended Waldorf-Pemberton High School and graduated in 1964. She married Sylvan Andersen at St. Mary's Church in rural Waseca on Feb. 4, 1967. They moved to Red Wing in 1970 to own and operate Syl's Amoco and later changed the name to Syl's Citgo until January of 2003. She then worked at Corner Drug for 13 years until her illness caused her to retire.
Bonnie was a member of the Catholic Daughters at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Red Wing. She was also an advocate with the Goodhue County Mounted Posse. She loved being with her grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Syl; daughter, Sue (Tim) Kelly and son, Mike Andersen all of Red Wing; six grandchildren, Jess (Ben) Whitcomb, Cole, Macy and Tait Kelly, Jared and Kaden Andersen; brothers, Pat (Sharon) Madden of Mankato and Pete (Sarah) Madden of Waseca; sisters, Mary Catherine Gress of Sacramento, Calif. And Dorothy Harguth of Waseca and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dick Nelson and two brothers-in-law.
Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
