Bonita Sandeen, age 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died Tuesday (Mar. 19, 2013) at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Bonita Grace Nelson was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Mankato, MN to Charles H. and Estella (Rosenau) Nelson. She was raised in Rapidan, MN where she graduated from high school. She worked at the bank in Rapidan and attended Teacher's College and Commercial College in Mankato, and then worked at Production Marketing in North Mankato. Bonita married John Sandeen on May 28, 1950 in Mankato. The couple then moved to Rochester, where Bonita was a homemaker. Her husband is retired from Northwestern Bell. She attended Autumn Ridge Church, and enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, and cooking.
Survivors include her husband, John, her son Charles (Janet) Sandeen of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Jacque, Bruce, Jonathan, and Lisa, her great granddaughter, Shay, and her brother, Roy Nelson of Waseca, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday (Mar. 28, 2013) at Autumn Ridge Church Timothy Chapel with Pastor Bill Price and Pastor Karen Anderle officiating. Private burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
