Bonita Jean Callstrom

Bonita "Nita" Jean Callstrom, 65, of Red Wing, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She was born February 20, 1952, in Red Wing, to Hilbert and Margie (Kuhfuss) Stumpf. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1970 and went on to attend Nurses Training. She worked at the Seminary Home and after she received her nursing degree, began working at St. John's Hospital. On August 24, 1974, she was united in marriage to Douglas Callstrom at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together they had two children, and she stayed home while raising them and helped do daycare work for her nieces and nephews. After her children were grown, she returned to work for Goodhue County Public Health where she worked until her retirement. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Nita enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, four-wheeling, fishing, shopping with Linda and most of all, being with her family and seeing her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Callstrom; daughter, Tricia (Mark Janski) Callstrom and son, Chad Callstrom all of Red Wing; 4 grandchildren, Cody, Meya, Carson and Blake; 3 brothers, Ronnie (Jeanie), Fred (Cindy) and Larry (Rosanne) Stumpf all of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Eric Stumpf.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hay Creek, with Rev. Lowell Sorenson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
