Bobby R. Varnado

Bobby Ray Varnado, 39, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 18 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born November 29, 1969 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Chuck and Ellen (Stewart) Varnado. He attended schools in Red Wing, Goodhue, Buckbranch, Mississippi, and Main Street School in Louisiana. He married Holly Novek. He worked at Burger King, DBI, Perkins Restaurant and most recently Chuck and Bob's Small Engine Repair. He enjoyed fishing, camping, watching the eagles, hiking Barns Bluff, rock hunting, and spending time with his daughter, Sarah.

Survivors include his wife, Holly; one daughter, Sarah; parents, Chuck and Ellen Varnado of Red Wing; five brothers, Tim Varnado of Red Wing, Tom (Judy) Varnado of Red Wing, David Varnado of Arizona, Donald Varnado of California, and Bill Varnado of California; three sisters, Sandra Hern of Hurst, Texas, Helen Stewart of Red Wing, and Donna of California. He was preceded in death by one son, Zachary; one brother, Roger Quade Jr.; sister-in-law Pam Varnado, brother-in-law Claire Stewart, his grandparents, and other relatives.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim, Tom, Anthony, and Brian Varnado, Alex Ruppel, and Dave Sommerfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Stewart, Barry Novek, Matthew Ruppel, and Rick and Randy Lemmerhirt. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
