ROCHESTER - Bobby Braun, age 84 of Rochester, died Friday Mar. 18, 2016 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis after a lengthy illness.
Bobby Ray Braun was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Le Seuer, MN to Raymond and Miranda (Hoffmeister) Braun. He was raised in the Le Seuer area and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1948. He served in Japan, Hawaii, and Korea during the Korean War and was discharged as a Sergeant in 1952.
On Aug. 22, 1953 he married Joyce Reese in Pasadena, CA, she survives. The couple moved back to Minnesota in 1956, settling in Rochester. He barbered at the Kahler Barber Shop from 1956 to 1971. He then worked for the Mayo Clinic from 1971 to 1992. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church since 1958. Bobby enjoyed growing tomatoes, fishing, sitting in the sunshine, and receiving cards and pictures from his family.
Survivors include his wife Joyce of Rochester; daughters Vicki (Tim) McCaleb of Rochester, and Janelle Braun of Rochester; his son Brian (Donna) of Denver, CO; his sister Diana Trimbo of Henderson, MN; grandchildren Kristina (Mark) Hinchliff, Michael, Laura, Samantha, and Mackenzie Braun, and great grandchildren Audrey, Imogen, Rosalind, and Jack Hinchliff. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jean and Doris, and brothers Roger, Stanley, Loren, and Larry.
The Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 24 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Rev. Norman Wahl of Bethel Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel, and one hour before the service on March 24. Burial will be in Oakwood East Cemetery with Military Honors by the Wm. T. McCoy Post #92 of the American Legion.
