Robert "Bob" Arland Holthe, age 69 of Red Wing, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home. He was born on February 19, 1945 in Minneapolis to Orvin and Stella (Quam) Holthe. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1963 and went on to attend Augsburg College, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and played on the football team. Over the years he worked at Control Data Corp, Tenere Corp, General Electric Capital, and Thompson-Reuters retiring a year ago. He was recognized for his work with two Great Performer Awards from Control Data and was appointed to the GE Circle of Excellence. He was also a long-time member of United Lutheran Church, serving on the men's cooking team, church softball league, usher A team, and two terms on the church council. Bob also served his community as a Boy Scouts youth and adult leader, volunteer for the correctional facility, YMCA youth sports coach, and member of the Roundy Club. He traveled for his work throughout the U.S., Canada and India, but his favorite travel destination was in "his own backyard" in the BWCA.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Lisa (Mike) O'Brien of Red Wing; son, Scott (Sarah) Holthe of Holmen, WI; grandchildren, Grace and Aidan O'Brien and Emma and Abigail Holthe; brother, Roland (LaVonne) Holthe of Red Wing; three nephews, Chris Holthe, Michael Holthe, and Chris Nimon; brother-in-law, Todd Nimon of Red Wing; and sister-in-law, Kathy Holthe of Stillwater. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Revered Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
