Billy Lee Tooze, 90, of Red Wing, died Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Deer Crest Senior Living in Red Wing, Minnesota.
He was born on July 9, 1933 to Roff and Norma (Jacques) Tooze in Barton City, Michigan. Billy proudly served in the United States Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1953. He was a construction worker for many years and then a truck driver for many more until his retirement. Billy loved cookies, desserts, and whiskey. He was a big fan of county music, including Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. Billy also enjoyed fishing, hunting, yard work, and spending time with animals. He was proud of the lake home he built on Bone Lake and enjoyed spending time there. Billy also loved telling jokes, playing solitaire and watching TV.
Billy is survived by his children, Norma (Jim) Furney, Jeff Tooze, and Patti Tooze-Swenson; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Mildred Lee and Lucretia Avery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; his parents, Roff and Norma; and his siblings, Wilbert, Roff, Edith, Pearl, and Genevieve.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing, Minnesota with a one hour prior visitation from 3-4 p.m. Friday. Burial will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Milltown Cemetery in Milltown, Wisconsin. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
