Beverly Jean Westby, 85, of Red Wing, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2016 at the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 1, 1931 to Alric and Della (McKinley) Ekstrom. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1949 and worked may years at Interstate Medical Center, Corner Drug and most recently at RWHRA. Beverly married Ron Westby on October 26, 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing.
Beverly and Ron raised their children on a hobby farm in Bay City. They frequently participated in weekend horse shows and were members of the Red Wing Saddle Club. Beverly served in the Auxiliary for both the Bay City American Legion and the Bay City VFW. She was an active member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church before moving to Red Wing where she joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Beverly loved to sing and dance and participated in everything from musicals to the church choir. She loved her family and made it a point to attend the school and sporting functions for her children and grandchildren. She was warm and outgoing and was always able to find a friend where ever she went.
Beverly will be missed by many, including her daughter, Gayle (David) Johnson of Chippewa Falls; sons, Gregg (Barb) of Maiden Rock and Grant (Jill) of River Falls; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Brent, Jared, Erin and Jamie; 7 great grandchildren (and one on the way); brother, Quinton Ekstrom; sisters-in-law, Kathy Holthe and Patricia Westby; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; grandson, Garrett; sisters-in-law Barbara Thompson and Dorothy Ekstrom and her parents.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday September 6, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Arrangements with the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
