Beverly Ann O'Connor

April 14, 1937 — September 14, 2020

Beverly “Bev” Ann O’Connor (nee Thorsen) passed-away peacefully on September 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 83.

She was born to Elmer and Amy Thorsen on April 14, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was united in marriage on April 12, 1958 to Jerome “Jerry” O’Connor in Roberts, Wisconsin. Bev and Jerry moved to Zumbrota in 1965.

Bev owned a fabric shop (Colonial Fabrics) in Zumbrota for many years where she displayed her beautiful talent of sewing. After they sold that business, she started an in-home day care where she cared for and loved many children throughout the years.

When she retired from her day care duties, she worked part-time for Lochner’s Clothing store in Zumbrota where she shared her love of fashion with anyone who come through the door. After that, she worked part-time for Kwik Trip handing out samples of their daily treats. She so enjoyed that job and loved not only the people she worked with but also to socialize with customers that would come from miles afar and regularly stop in just to say hi.

She was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church, where her strong faith in our Lord continued to grow. She enjoyed golfing, girl-time with the POD, playing BUNCO and spending time with her family.

Bev is survived by her children, Tim (Lori) O’Connor, Gary (Kathy) O’Connor, and Amy (Rob) Defatte; her grandchildren, Riley (Greg) Beeck, Jordan, Mikaela and Connor Lisowski; her great-grandchildren, Emerson and Kerregan Beeck; brother, Dennis (Mary) Thoreson; sisters-in-law, Marianne Franklin, Donna (Walter) Lamson, Barb O’Connor and Rosanna O’Connor; along with extended family and close friends.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” O’Connor; her parents, Elmer and Amy Thorsen; her father- and mother-in-law, George and Erna O’Connor; brothers-in-law, George “Dick” and Lloyd O’Connor.

Due to Covid-19 the memorial service for Bev will be private at United Redeemer Lutheran Church.
