Beverly Decker-Erickson, age 75 of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Beverly was born on March 13, 1933 in Red Wing, the daughter of Vernon and Irene (Anderson) Oelkers. After graduating from Red Wing High School she went to work as a Lab Technician for Interstate Medical Center where she was employed for 42 years until retiring in 1993.
On October 18, 1952 she married James Wesley Decker in Red Wing; he died on June 11, 1990. On July 1, 1993 she married Lee Erickson in Webster, Wisconsin; he died on June 18, 2007. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Red Wing and also volunteered at the Red Wing Senior Center. Beverly enjoyed traveling, reading, crafts, family get-togethers, shopping, and photography.
Beverly is survived by her daughter Sue Ann (Steven) Bystrom of Columbia, Missouri; son Gerald Decker of Red Wing; step-son Brandt (Diane) Erickson of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren Angela Aparo, Kristin Decker, Matthew Decker, and Melissa (Skip) Erickson; five great-grandchildren Josh, Kiara, Isabelle, Lucas, and Carter; brothers Richard (Jean) Oelkers of Red Wing and John (Sue) Oelkers of Red Wing; sister Kathleen (Norm) Charlson of Thompson Falls, Montana; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James W. Decker, husband Lee Erickson, and step-daughter Julie Perkins.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Steve Timm officiating. Burial will be in Burnside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Beverly's grandchildren; Angela Aparo, Kristin Decker, Matthew Decker, Josh Decker, Melissa Erickson, and Skip Erickson. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and also one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials are preferred.
