Beverly Ann Baker

Beverly Ann Baker, 84, of Red Wing, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born April 30, 1934, to Erwin and Roberta (Hoyt) Siewert in Red Wing. She spent the majority of her time in Red Wing with the exception of a short time spent in the Pacific Northwest when her father changed jobs. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School where she was an avid participant in gymnastics and as a majorette. After graduating from high school, she married Richard Ogden and they moved to Germany during her husband's tour of duty. After returning to the United States she and Richard started a family and the couple raised 3 boys, Thomas, Gerald and James. She continued employment as a waitress at various places while raising her family. She married Gordon Baker in January 1964 and continued her family with two more children, Lisa and Joel. Beverly was a prolific songwriter throughout her life and gathered numerous awards for her song writing, including awards from the Country Music Association and ASCAP. Her remaining time was spent on selfless devotion to her entire and extended family and being the "neighborhood mom."
She is survived by her husband, Gordon of Red Wing; 4 children, Thomas (Mary) Ogden of Red Wing, James (Cindy) Ogden of Hager City, Lisa (Kelly) Holt of Maiden Rock, Wisc., and Joel Baker of Hager City; 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 3 great-granddaughters and 3 great-grandsons. She is preceded in death by her son, Gerald Ogden; grandson, Jessie Ogden; brother, Darryl Siewert; sister, Marilyn Siewert and her parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery.
