Betty Lou Sexton, 71, of Pleasant Grove, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Betty was born on March 1, 1939 in Stewartville to Ida and Theodore Bakken. She was married to Thomas Sexton on December 3, 1961. Aside from a brief residence in St. Cloud, they lived and raised their children in the Stewartville area. Mrs. Sexton owned a used furniture store in Pleasant Grove until a stroke in 1988. She continued to remain active despite her disabilities. Betty loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren, and enjoyed garage sales, shopping, cooking, and being outdoors.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom of Pleasant Grove; her children, Lou Ann (Dennis) Mensink of Stewartville, Wes Sexton (Heather Horstmann) of Pleasant Grove, Thomas (Heather) Sexton of Sargeant, Jerry (Charlene) Sexton of Pleasant Grove, Colleen (Gary) Louks of Stewartville, John (Coleen) Sexton of Rochester, Carmen (Neal) Gartner of Chatfield, Mark Sexton of Stewartville, and Paul (Sarah) Sexton of Pleasant Grove; 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Mert) Bakken of Stewartville, and Gerald Bakken of Big Fork; two sisters, Lillian Ringey, and Delores (Wayne) Zink, both of Stewartville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, and a brother.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday August 20th at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Rochester Chapel. A private service and burial will follow.
