Betty Acker Sauer

ROCHESTER Betty Acker Sauer, 74, a resident of Gramercy Park Cooperative of Rochester, died Tuesday (Dec. 28, 2010) at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her family.
Betty Acker was born Oct. 20, 1936 in Waterloo, Iowa to Dr. Wesley and Gertrude (McFarland) Acker. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1955 and took her Nurse's training in Iowa. On Sept. 10, 1960 she married Dr. Robert L. Sauer in Waterloo, they were later divorced. Betty and family moved to Preston, MN in 1968. She was a stay at home mom and later worked as a School Nurse for the Spring Valley School District. She moved to Rochester in 1985 and had worked at Bachman's Flowers, Wallin's West, Super America, and Hallmark, retiring in 2003. She had resided at Gramercy Park since 2004, where she enjoyed the many activities and friends there. Betty loved her second home on the lake in Chetek, Wis., enjoying time with her friends and family.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Doug Banks) Sauer, of Plymouth, MN; sons, Steven (Jo) of Rochester; and Robert Paul (Leanne) of Preston; and three grandchildren, Kelsey, Delton, and Hannah Sauer. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Dr. Richard "Dick" Acker, and Robert "Bob" Acker.
