Betty J. Larson

May 12, 1930 — May 10, 2015

Betty Jane Larson, 84, of Red Wing, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at St. Brigid's at Hi-Park. She was born May 12, 1930, in Red Wing, to Floyd and Dorothy (Johnson) Johnson and attended school in Red Wing. She was united in marriage to Neal Larson on January 16, 1949, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Together they had five children, and though she worked for a time outside of the home as a seamstress at Main Cleaners, her primary job and enjoyment was being a homemaker and raising her children. From cooking and baking and sewing and knitting, she kept busy. After their children were grown, she and Neal bought a home in Amery, Wisconsin, where for 21 years they enjoyed their summers fishing on the Apple River. During that time, they also wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona. In 2011 they returned to Red Wing, where they have since resided at Seminary Plaza.

Betty is survived by her husband, Neal of Red Wing; children, Jeffrey (Missy) Larson of Red Wing, Jane (Ron) Belshan of Glenville, MN, Jody (Lee) Diercks of Bradenton, FL and Jack (Jayne) Larson of Red Wing; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Reta Anderson of Illinois and Nancy (Pete) Eckholm of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerrold Larson.
