ROCHESTER Memorial services for Betty Ann Korstad will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Episcopal Church. An Oder of the Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted by OES Chapter #193 and will be followed by a memorial service with Father Nicklas Mezacapa and Father Michael Forbes officiating. Inurnment will be in the Calvary Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Mrs. Korstad, age 70, of Rochester, died Tuesday (Aug. 18, 2009) at the Mayo Clinic.
Betty Ann was born Oct. 10, 1931 to Theodore F. and Vivian K. (Klinepier) Lange on the family farm in Racine Township, Mower County, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm and attended Stewartville schools, graduating from high school in 1957. She moved to Rochester and worked for the Mayo Clinic for 40 years, retiring as an assistant supervisor in the General Service Transportation Service. On Apr. 15, 1961 she married Jerry R. Korstad at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester. Jerry survives and is retired. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church where she was active in the Fruitcake sales project, the OES Chapter #193, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Auxiliary of the WM. T. McCoy post #92 of the American Legion. Betty was a member and treasurer of CABANE #327 of the 40/8, the National Secretary of the Ladies Council of the Universal Craftsmans Council of Engineers, Dame Betty of Grand Croix, Priory of Our Lady of Sorrows of the West SMOTJ, and Mother Advisor for the Order of DeMolay. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, traveling, and going to garage sales.
Other survivors include her son Kevin K. Korstad of Sparta, WI; her daughter Kimberly K. Korstad of Cambridge, MN; three grandchildren Miranda Jo, Amber Leann, and Kevin Korstad, Jr.; four great grandchildren; and her brother James (Julie) Lange of Stillwater, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church and a reception will be held in Brackenridge Hall at the church following the memorial services.
